Mr. Merritt was born on August 29, 1952, son of the late Charles Brown Merritt and Mae Merritt. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps.
Randy loved fishing and playing pickleball. He had a very fervent love of Jesus and enjoyed serving others in the love of Christ
Survivors include his two sons, Randy Merritt and wife Meghan, and Jason Merritt and wife Stephanie; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Waldrup; a brother-in-law, Earl Hanson and wife Pamela; and his companion, Cathy Alford.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Merritt, and a sister, Joan Lamb.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Oak Island, 4608 E Oak Island Dr, Oak Island, North Carolina 28465.
