Brian Scott Hakey

MSG Brian Scott Hakey, a resident of Southport, North Carolina, passed away on January 23, 2026, at the age of 56.

Brian was born on December 5, 1969, son of Herb and Margaret Hakey. Brian served 37 years in the US ArmyMay include: The official seal of the United States Department of the Army. The circular emblem features a central design with a gold-colored breastplate, cannons, and flags. The text "DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY" and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" are inscribed around the border.

Brian loved coffee, he enjoyed roasting his own beans, making his own blends. Brian was a lover of trains both large and small. He was a locomotive engineer for the army and civilian life. When he wasn’t working, he volunteered as a presenter for Operation lifesaver, a railroad education program. He also enjoyed working on his train layout. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Tina Hakey; two children, Joshua Hakey and Anna Hakey; and a brother, Andrew Hakey.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Boiling Spring Lakes.
