Oak Island, NC — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office joined the U.S. Coast Guard community Thursday, June 25, 2026, to honor a respected leader and welcome a new one during the Change of Command Ceremony at the Oak Island Coast Guard Station.

Senior Chief Boatswain’s Mate Logan Adkisson was recognized for his years of leadership, professionalism, and steadfast service to coastal communities. His partnership with local law enforcement has strengthened marine safety efforts throughout Brunswick County, and the Sheriff’s Office expressed deep appreciation for his dedication as he enters retirement.

The ceremony also marked the arrival of Chief Warrant Officer Jason Gazzillo, who now assumes command of the station. The Sheriff’s Office looks forward to continuing its strong working relationship with the men and women of the United States Coast Guard and building that same trusted partnership with Chief Warrant Officer Gazzillo.

The Coast Guard motto, Semper Paratus — “Always Ready” — reflects the commitment of those who safeguard local waterways each day. Brunswick County is fortunate to have such an exceptional team protecting its coast, and the Sheriff’s Office remains proud to stand beside them in their shared mission of public safety.
