CHADBOURN, NC — January 31, 2026. Town officials have declared a state of emergency as this winter storm intensifies, placing a strict, mandatory curfew on all residents. The curfew prohibits public travel and outdoor activity from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and again from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., effective immediately.

Only individuals seeking or providing essential, health‑related services or those leaving unavoidable temporary engagements are exempt.

Police will enforce the curfew throughout Chadbourn’s corporate limits.

The emergency order also bans assemblies of three or more people and authorizes law enforcement to block access to streets or areas deemed unsafe. Violations are misdemeanors punishable by fines up to $50 or 30 days in jail.

Mayor Phillip C. Britt and Town Manager J. Jason Robinson signed the proclamation Saturday afternoon, urging residents to stay indoors and avoid all non‑essential travel as conditions worsen.
