CERRO GORDO — Deputies are investigating a domestic incident where a firearm was present Tuesday morning on Coleman Cemetery Road, according to a Columbus County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

Deputy Cail Brown responded around 3:18 a.m. and met with Linda Caroline Carter, 37, who reported a domestic confrontation involving a 36‑year‑old male suspect. The report lists a firearm as the weapon involved, though no injuries were noted.

No arrest was made at the scene, and the case remains under investigation. Domestic cases involving firearms are automatically reviewed for potential protective‑order violations under North Carolina law.
