Carbon Monoxide Issue Found Overnight; Leland Burger King

Crews found elevated CO levels inside the restaurant and located a failed kitchen component

Brunswick County, NC — Leland Fire Rescue responded shortly after 1:00 a.m. Monday, to the Burger King on New Pointe Boulevard after reports of an unusual odor coming from the building.

Fire crews found elevated carbon monoxide levels inside the structure. According to officials, the source was a malfunctioning component from equipment in the kitchen area. The damaged component produced a haze inside the building. Firefighters used handheld extinguishers to stop the component from continuing to burn. There was no active structure fire.

The building was ventilated, and firefighters monitored air quality until carbon monoxide levels returned to normal. No injuries were reported.
