Brunswick County Schools Cancel Classes Through Tuesday; Remote Learning Set for Wednesday

District cites ongoing winter storm impacts; buildings to remain closed pending safety assessments

Brunswick County Schools has canceled in‑person classes for students on Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3, as winter weather continues to create hazardous conditions across the region. Both days will serve as non‑required workdays for staff, according to the district’s update.

School buildings will remain closed until they can be safely assessed, with district officials emphasizing that icy roads and lingering storm impacts make travel unsafe for buses, families, and employees.

The district plans to shift to a remote learning day on Wednesday, February 4, allowing instruction to continue while campuses remain closed. Families are encouraged to ensure students have their devices and learning materials ready ahead of Wednesday’s virtual schedule. Individual schools will provide additional guidance.

District leadership will issue its next operational update by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, outlining plans for Thursday and the remainder of the week.

In its message, Brunswick County Schools thanked families for their patience, noting that the decisions were made to “keep students and staff safe while continuing learning as conditions permit.”
