Full leaderboard released as young anglers reel in an impressive variety of species

SUNSET HARBOR, NC — The Brunswick County Fishing Club, Inc. wrapped up its 2026 Youth Fishing Tournament with a strong turnout, big catches, and families spending the weekend together on the water. Young anglers brought in an impressive range of species, from king mackerel and red drum to flounder, trout, croaker, and more.

Organizers congratulated all participants for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship, noting that this year’s group turned in some fantastic fish. Families—parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and guardians—were thanked for taking time out of their weekend to fish alongside the youth participants. Volunteers also received recognition for the work that makes the annual event possible, and Dutchman Creek Tackle and Bait was honored for its continued sponsorship year after year.

1st Place — Morgan 51.25″ King Mackerel, Friday 10:56 a.m.

2nd Place — Kayden 39″ King Mackerel, Friday 8:55 p.m.

3rd Place — Bentley 24.5″ Bowfin, Saturday 4:20 p.m.

Additional notable catches

Anglers continued to fill the leaderboard with flounder, largemouth bass, bluefish, whiting, toadfish, croaker, sea bass, and pinfish. Participants included Madison, Luke, Sofia, Peyton, Scout, Lucas, Stella, Grant, William, Michael, Harley, Sebastian, Andrew, and Emersyn.

Several youth anglers also recorded species without measurable lengths, including brim, shark, and sea bass.

The club emphasized that the greatest success of the tournament was seeing families enjoy Brunswick County’s waterways together on a beautiful early‑summer weekend.
