Courthouse and Board meeting canceled; landfill, parks, libraries also shut down
BOLIVIA, NC — Brunswick County Government will close all offices and facilities on Monday, February 2, 2026, as Winter Storm Gianna continues to create hazardous travel conditions.
The closures include the License Plate Agency, health clinic, social services, library branches, county parks, and all county programs, rentals, and leagues. The Board of Commissioners meeting scheduled for 3:00 p.m. is canceled and will be rescheduled.
The Brunswick County Courthouse, including Superior and District courts, will also be closed Monday. All court related questions must be directed to courthouse staff.
The landfill and convenience centers will not operate, and GFL curbside cart collection is suspended.
Monday customers will receive a make‑up collection on Saturday, February 7, weather permitting. GFL will reassess conditions next week.
Essential public safety teams remain active. The Emergency Operations Center is at Level 2 — Partial Activation, and a state of emergency remains in effect. County leaders will announce Tuesday’s operational status on Monday.
The Brunswick County Library will waive overdue fines during the closure. Updates are available at BrunswickCountyNC.gov/winter
