The Brunswick County Board of Commissioners will meet Monday, April 20, at 6:00 p.m. in the Sandifer Administration Building to address several high-stakes administrative items.
A primary focus of the session involves the formal introduction of a $349,600,000 General Obligation School Bond order. If the resolution is adopted, a public hearing will be scheduled for May 18 to discuss the issuance of these bonds intended for county-wide school improvements.
Public safety and regulatory authority also highlight the agenda as commissioners consider requesting statutory power from the legislative delegation to regulate open burning. Additionally, the board will provide direction on a proposed resolution regarding fire fee legislation and review a letter reaffirming their opposition to state-imposed limitations on downzoning. This defense of local land-use control follows previous correspondence on the matter dating back to April 2025.
The meeting is open to the public at 30 Government Center Drive in Bolivia. Residents who cannot attend in person may stream the proceedings live or view subsequent updates through the county’s official Agendas and Minutes Portal.
