BOLTON — A Bolton man was taken into custody Wednesday in connection with a child‑abuse investigation that began last fall, according to newly released booking records and prior law‑enforcement reports.
Anthony Dewitt Ameri Jacobs, 37, of 7848 Old Lake Road, was arrested April 8 on a single count of misdemeanor child abuse. He was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center under a $15,000 unsecured bond, jail records show.
Charge Tied to September 2025 Incident
While the sheriff’s office has not released new details about Wednesday’s arrest, earlier public reports indicate the charge stems from a September 6, 2025 disturbance on Buckhead Road, where deputies responded to a custody‑related incident involving a juvenile.
According to those reports, deputies found a child with visible injuries at the scene. Social services was notified, and investigators later secured warrants connected to the case. Another man involved in the incident, 21‑year‑old Kanyon Ray Hunt, was charged earlier this year with assault offenses related to the same disturbance.
Jacobs is accused of allowing the assault to occur, leading to the misdemeanor child‑abuse charge filed this week.
No Additional Charges Listed
Detention records list no other charges against Jacobs at this time, and no incident report for the April 8 arrest appears in the sheriff’s office media logs. A court date has been scheduled.
Legal Status
As with all criminal cases, the charge is an allegation. Jacobs is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
