Boiling Spring Lakes Man Arrested Following Residential Burglary

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC — A routine patrol by the Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department led to the arrest of a local man early Tuesday morning following a residential break-in.

On Monday, April 6, 2026, officers observed a suspicious vehicle leaving a vacated residence. Upon further investigation, authorities determined that the property had been unlawfully entered, damaged, and several items had been stolen.

Following the investigation, Alex John Bencina, 22, of Boiling Spring Lakes, was taken into custody on April 7, 2026. Bencina has been booked into the Brunswick County Detention Center and faces the following charges:

  • Felony Breaking and/or Entering

  • Felony Larceny after Breaking and/or Entering

  • Felony Breaking and/or Entering a Motor Vehicle

  • Misdemeanor Second Degree Trespass

  • Misdemeanor Injury to Real Property

  • Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property

  • Misdemeanor Larceny

The Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department stated that this remains an ongoing investigation. Local residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 9-1-1.
