Truck-mounted operations may begin Tuesday, May 5, 2026

Horry County, SC — Horry County Mosquito Control plan to begin truck‑mounted mosquito spraying operations on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

Spraying will take place Monday through Thursday from roughly 30 minutes before sunset until about 11:30 p.m., continuing as weather allows. Officials note this schedule does not mean spraying will occur every night; crews will spray only when conditions call for it and when factors such as rain, wind, and temperature are suitable.

All products used by Horry County are approved by the EPA and DPR and are considered to pose minimal risk to humans and animals.

Individuals with asthma or other respiratory conditions may choose to remain indoors and keep windows and doors closed during spraying. Homegrown fruits and vegetables should be washed, scrubbed, and/or peeled before eating.

To help protect local honeybee populations, beekeepers are encouraged to contact Horry County Stormwater to identify the location of their colonies.

Residents in unincorporated areas of Horry County who wish to request mosquito spraying may contact the Horry County Road & Drainage Hotline at 843.381.8000
