John was born April 14, 1946, in Milton, Massachusetts, son of the late Jeremiah Daniel Donovan and Eris Price Donovan. After graduating from Melrose High School, John went on to study History at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.
After graduation, John married the love of his life Susan, going on to have four children and five grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Donovan; sister Polly Tunick; son’s Jeremiah Donovan (Amanda) and John Donovan; daughter Katherine Giacalone (Anthony) and grandchildren; Anthony Giacalone, Owen Donovan, Nico Giacalone, Emily Donovan and Daniel Donovan.
Husband, father, brother, legend. A life well lived doesn’t seem to do John justice. He was a lot of things; a good time was certainly right near the top of that list. He loved his family and friends to the highest, and if you ever spent time with him, you were probably better off for it. Everyone he knew most likely has a favorite “Mr. D” story. The family looks forward to hearing all of them when we meet next.
