RALEIGH, N.C. — Law enforcement agencies across North Carolina will launch an intensified speed‑enforcement effort beginning March 30 as part of the statewide “Speed a Little. Lose a Lot.” campaign.
The weeklong initiative, which runs March 30 through April 5, is coordinated by the Governor’s Highway Safety Program in partnership with the N.C. State Highway Patrol and local police departments. Drivers can expect to see more patrols, checkpoints, and targeted enforcement in areas where speeding‑related crashes are most common.
State officials say the goal is simple: reduce dangerous driving behaviors that continue to contribute to serious injuries and deaths on North Carolina roads. The campaign also includes a public‑education component reminding motorists that speeding remains one of the leading factors in fatal crashes statewide.
The Governor’s Highway Safety Program encourages drivers to slow down, obey posted limits, and plan extra travel time as enforcement ramps up through early April
