CHADBOURN — The Town of Chadbourn has officially announced an opening for its Town Manager position, just days after the previous manager abruptly resigned in the wake of a tense Town Board meeting held last Saturday.
Town officials released the job posting Monday evening, inviting qualified applicants to apply for the municipality’s top administrative role. The announcement comes at a pivotal moment for Chadbourn, which is working to stabilize leadership following recent internal disagreements that surfaced during the February 21 board meeting.
According to the posting, the Town Manager serves as Chadbourn’s Chief Administrative Officer, overseeing key departments including Police, Public Works, Finance, Planning and Zoning, Code Enforcement, Building Inspections, and the Town Clerk’s office. The manager also works closely with the Town Attorney and reports directly to the Mayor and Town Council.
The job description emphasizes leadership, financial management, grant administration, personnel oversight, and strong communication skills. Responsibilities include preparing reports for the council, coordinating the annual budget, managing day‑to‑day operations, handling citizen concerns, and maintaining effective relationships with residents and local businesses.
The town noted that applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree—with a master’s degree preferred—and have at least five years of progressively responsible municipal management experience, including three years at a senior or executive level. A combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Salary for the position is listed as dependent on experience and qualifications.
The posting follows the resignation of Chadbourn’s former town manager, who stepped down shortly after Saturday’s board meeting, where tensions among council members and staff were evident. Town officials have not yet released additional details regarding the departure.
Applicants interested in the position are asked to submit a resume, cover letter, and references to hr@townofchadbourn.com. The posting remains open until March 7, 2026.
