CLARKTON (BCN) — A Clarkton man is being held without bond after deputies say a woman escaped his home and reported being kidnapped and sexually assaulted.
The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office arrested Wade Anthony Garcia, 41, of 4960 Burney Ford Road, following a 911 call from a female victim who told dispatchers she had been restrained inside Garcia’s residence and assaulted over a period of time.
Deputies responded to the area on July 21 and located the victim, who was immediately taken for medical evaluation. Investigators say they collected clothing and other forensic evidence and conducted multiple interviews before securing warrants for Garcia’s arrest.
Garcia is charged with:
- Second-degree kidnapping
- False imprisonment
- Sexual battery
- Second-degree sex offense
He was taken into custody and booked into the Bladen County Detention Center, where he remains held without bond.
Sheriff’s Office officials say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible as evidence is processed.
Garcia has been the subject of prior multi-agency investigations, including a 2022 case involving firearm possession by a felon, identity theft, and fraud-related offenses. Authorities have not indicated whether the earlier case has any connection to the current allegations.
Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.
Any individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
