The Cooking Corner: Taco Burgers

If you have been reading my recipes then you know from time to time I like to experiment with things and see what new things can be created.  A few weeks ago I decided to make this Taco Burger and my family went nuts for it and have basically bugged me to make it again.  Well there was no way I was going to make it again without turning it into a recipe.  This is a very tasty burger.  It tricks your brain in a weird way. You know you are about to eat a burger yet once you take a bite you feel like you just took a bite out of a taco.  Enjoy the experience.

Ingredients
2.5 lbs Ground Beef
2 cups and 8 Slices of Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Buns
Chunky Salsa
Sour Cream
Pickled Jalapeno’s
2 Cups Corn Chips
¼ Cup Chili Powder
2 TBSP Cumin
2 TBSP Oregano
2 TBSP Paprika
2 TBSP Garlic Powder
2 TBSP Onion Powder
1 tsp Salt
1 TBSP Black Pepper
Chopped Lettuce
Chopped Onion
Preparation
Prep 1 – Chop your onion and your lettuce and put aside.

Prep 2 – Shred 2 cups of cheddar cheese and 2 cups of corn chips (slightly crushed), put aside.

Prep 3 – In a large bowl add a ¼ cup of Chili powder, 2 TBSP of Cumin, oregano, paprika, garlic powder and onion powder. Also add 1 TBSP of black pepper and 1 tsp of salt. Mix well.

Directions
Step 1 – In the large bowl with your spices add your ground beef and mix well. This is not a race do make sure you integrate all the spices with the meat well.

Step 2 – Add your shredded cheddar cheese and mix well.

Step 3 – Add your corn chips and mix well. You will also be crushing them more as you mix so don’t be afraid to get in there and mix it up.

Step 4 – Roll into balls (see photo).

Step 5 – Now flatten the balls into burger patties.

Step 6 – Cook your burgers the way you normally would to the temp you prefer and toast buns.

Assemble
(The next steps are important for the proper taste)
A1 – Put sour cream on the bottom bun.

A2 – On top of the sour cream, place some of your chopped onion.

A3 – Place your cooked burger on top of the onion.

A4 – Place your pickled jalapeno on top of burger.

A5 – Place your chopped lettuce on top of your jalapeno.

A6 – On the top bun add your chunky salsa and place on top of your burger and enjoy.
