Heavy‑equipment transport for Santee Cooper caused significant delays along Highway 90 and International Drive on Monday, June 22, as Horry County Police Department officers assisted with moving an oversized load through the area.
The transport traveled along Highway 90 before continuing eastbound on International Drive toward the beach. Drivers experienced congestion and intermittent traffic stoppages throughout the morning and afternoon while crews maneuvered the equipment along the route.
Motorists were advised to allow extra travel time, use caution, and consider alternate routes. Areas most affected included Highway 90 and the beach‑bound lanes of International Drive.
Horry County Police Department thanked drivers for their patience as crews worked to safely move the oversized load.
