WHITEVILLE, NC — Investigators are working to determine what sparked Friday’s fire at the Sawmill Apartments on West Hay Street.
Fire crews from multiple departments responded just after 3:30 p.m. and quickly contained the blaze on June 5. No injuries were reported, all connecting apartments sustained fire, heavy smoke, and/or water damage, with multiple residents displaced.
The official cause will be released by the Whiteville Fire Department or the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal once the investigation is complete.
