Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office APS will offer no‑cost shots for dogs and cats.
Brunswick County pet owners will have a chance to get their animals vaccinated at no cost later this month. The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Animal Protective Services (APS) will host a free rabies vaccination clinic on Thursday, May 30, offering one‑year rabies shots for both dogs and cats.
The clinic will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the APS facility located at 426 Green Swamp Road in Supply. No appointments are required, and vaccinations will be provided on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
Rabies vaccinations are required under North Carolina law, which mandates that all dogs, cats, and ferrets four months of age and older be vaccinated and kept current.
APS staff say the free clinic is intended to help reduce barriers for families who may be overdue on their pet’s shots or who have multiple animals to keep up to date.
Pet owners are to bring dogs on secure leashes and cats secured safely within carriers. APS staff will be on site to guide owners through the line and verify basic information needed for vaccination records. Owners will receive documentation showing the date of vaccination and the one‑year expiration.
Rabies remains present in wildlife across southeastern North Carolina, including raccoons, foxes, and bats. Local officials say keeping pets vaccinated is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of the virus and protect both animals and people.
