Mutual‑aid response includes two Winnabow engines, staffing teams, and standby coverage
Leland, NC — Winnabow Volunteer Fire Department assisted Leland Fire Department on Thursday, August 6, 2026, after a residential structure fire prompted a multi‑agency response across Brunswick County, New Hanover County, and the City of Wilmington.
Chief Mercer (680) and Winnabow Engine 675, staffed by Lieutenant Butchello, Firefighter Faulk, and Associate Member Sykes, were assigned to Charlie‑side operations during the incident.
Winnabow Engine 674, with Captain Albosta and Firefighters R. Kye and G. Kye, remained available to provide standby coverage should additional resources be required.
