WHITEVILLE, N.C. — The Whiteville Police Department is asking residents to review any home or business surveillance footage that may help investigators piece together events surrounding a homicide that occurred earlier this week.
According to a statement released by Chief Paul D. Rockenbach, detectives are focusing on activity that took place in the early morning hours of March 11, 2026, in the 700 block of North Thompson Street. The department is urging anyone with cameras in the surrounding area to check recordings between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
Investigators are particularly interested in footage from the following streets:
- North Thompson Street (from East Calhoun Street north)
- East Smith Street
- East Wyche Street
- East Church Street
- East College Street
- North Franklin Street (from East Calhoun Street north)
- The McKenzie Woods neighborhood
Police say they are looking for any individuals, vehicles, or unusual activity that might help advance the investigation.
