Local contractors accidentally damaged a water line serving the Columbus County Public Water Supply System in Water & Sewer District III. Crews are working to restore service to affected customers on Waterfall Lane, Cascade Drive, and Misty Lane in Whiteville.
During repairs, residents may notice temporary water discoloration or other quality issues. Anyone experiencing problems should contact the after-hours line at 910.770.2158. Officials expect the system to clear within 24 hours.
Residents are advised to boil all water intended for consumption during this period as a precaution.
