Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Felony Arrest for Green Sea Man

GREEN SEA, SC — A South Carolina man is facing felony charges in Columbus County after law enforcement officers were forced to initiate a motor vehicle pursuit on Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a stop on 34-year-old Orica Wells of Green Sea, South Carolina, around 4:57 p.m. Officials report that Wells failed to comply, leading to a high-speed pursuit as she attempted to elude law enforcement.

After officers successfully brought the pursuit to an end, Wells was taken into custody and found in possession of marijuana and related drug paraphernalia. Deputies also noted that Wells was actively resisting officers during her apprehension and had outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court on previous misdemeanor charges.

Wells was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center on felony charges of fleeing and eluding arrest with a motor vehicle, alongside misdemeanor counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver marijuana, resisting a public officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to appear. A separate felony charge for possession of Schedule II controlled substances was dismissed by the court during initial processing. Wells remains held on a total $8,000 secured bond.
