Two Transported After Crash Strikes Commercial Building, Causes Gas Leak on North Kings Highway

Myrtle Beach, SC — A two‑vehicle crash in the 9700 block of North Kings Highway early Monday caused a commercial building to be struck and damaged utility equipment, resulting in an active gas leak, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.

Horry County Fire Rescue (HCFR) was dispatched at 5:20 a.m. Two people were transported to the hospital for evaluation of possible injuries.

All lanes of North Kings Highway remain blocked as fire crews continue mitigation efforts and utility crews work to repair the damaged equipment. The roadway is anticipated to remain closed until around 4:00 p.m. today.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating. Drivers are urged to avoid the area to prevent delays and to allow responders to work safely.
