Heavy equipment fire contained; three hospitalized after Dick Pond Road crash
Horry County, SC — Horry County Fire Rescue responded to two unrelated incidents on Tuesday, June 23, including a late‑morning equipment fire in Conway and an afternoon crash that blocked all lanes of Dick Pond Road.
Heavy Equipment Fire – Yawnoc Drive
At 11:43 a.m., HCFR was dispatched to the area of Yawnoc Drive and Highway 90 in Conway for a reported heavy equipment fire in the woods. The fire, which threatened nearby brush, was brought under control and extinguished without spreading.
A track steer sustained heavy fire damage, and no injuries were reported.
Three‑Vehicle Crash – Dick Pond Road
Later in the afternoon, emergency crews responded to a three‑vehicle crash involving a dump truck at Dick Pond Road and Big Block Road, where all lanes of traffic were blocked during the response.
Three people have been transported to the hospital with injuries. HCFR was dispatched at 1:48 p.m., and the South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area due to delays and for the safety of responders.
