Lowes Food Boulevard and gas station entrances to shut down until mid‑July; drivers must use Midway Road access.
OAK ISLAND, NC — Two entrances from NC 211 (Southport Supply Road) into the Midway Commons Shopping Center will close next week as part of ongoing construction on the NC 211 widening project.
The NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) announced that beginning June 22, crews will close the Lowes Food Boulevard entrance and the adjacent Lowes Food gas station entrance from NC 211.

The closures are needed to prepare for an upcoming traffic shift. Both entrances are expected to reopen in mid‑July once the new traffic pattern is in place.
During the closure, drivers will need to use the shopping center’s entrances on NC 906 (Midway Road). Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
NCDOT said additional details about the upcoming traffic shift will be released soon. The work is part of the department’s ongoing effort to widen NC 211 in Brunswick County.
