NCDOT

June 18, 2026

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC– Drivers across Columbus County may encounter delays today as several NCDOT work zones remain active on major routes and secondary roads. While none of the projects are new as of June 18, all are confirmed active this morning through NCDOT’s real‑time system.

US‑74 – Intermittent Lane Closures for Resurfacing

Crews continue resurfacing sections of US‑74 between Whiteville and Chadbourn, resulting in periodic single‑lane closures and reduced speeds. Drivers should expect brief slowdowns, especially during daytime work periods.

NC‑130 – Shoulder and Ditch Maintenance

Maintenance crews are working along NC‑130 east of Whiteville, performing ditch clearing and shoulder repairs. Equipment entering the roadway may cause short delays.

NC‑410 – Utility Work Between Tabor City and Chadbourn

Utility crews are active along NC‑410, with intermittent lane shifts and brief traffic holds possible as work continues on right‑of‑way upgrades.

Secondary Roads – Spot Repairs and Pipe Replacements

NCDOT lists multiple maintenance operations on rural roads throughout the county today, including asphalt patching, pipe replacements, and shoulder grading.

These are mobile work zones and may appear with little advance notice.

What Drivers Should Know

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, reduce speed in work zones, and watch for flaggers and equipment entering the roadway. All listed projects are active today, though schedules may shift based on weather and crew availability.
