LELAND, NC — Leland’s commercial corridor is set to gain another national chain as plans move forward for a new 2,274‑square‑foot Taco Bell at the corner of New Pointe Boulevard and West Gate Drive.

The project includes 22 parking spaces and positions the restaurant near the existing Burger King, adding to the cluster of fast‑food and retail options in the Westgate area.

The new Taco Bell will become the town’s second location, joining the existing restaurant on Thomas Garst Lane, which remains the only operating site in Leland until construction is complete. The planned build reflects continued investment in northern Brunswick County, where population growth and rising traffic counts have drawn steady interest from national brands.

The Westgate commercial district – anchored by Walmart, Chick‑fil‑A, Cook Out, Bojangles, and other chains has become a focal point for new development as Leland transitions from a bedroom community into a regional commercial hub. The addition of a second Taco Bell underscores that shift, signaling strong demand in one of the fastest‑growing municipalities in North Carolina.

Outside of Leland, the nearest Taco Bell locations are in Wilmington, primarily along Market Street, South College Road, and the Monkey Junction area. The new Leland site is expected to reduce the need for residents to travel across the river for additional options.

Town officials have received the development plans, which outline a standalone restaurant designed to serve the high‑growth New Pointe corridor. No construction timeline has been announced.
