SUNSET BEACH, NC — Members of the Sunset Beach Police Department recently gathered at the Town of Sunset Beach Park to participate in the 6th Annual Charter Captain’s Meet & Greet & Fishing Expo, hosted by Dave’s Outpost. The event served as a hub for local anglers, maritime enthusiasts, and residents to connect ahead of the coastal fishing season.

The wonderful weather today wasn’t the only star. The highlight was on the department’s presence and the participation of Animal Control Officer Arp, who provided attendees with essential expertise on the region’s diverse local wildlife. Arp’s presentation focused on the importance of safe coexistence, offering practical advice on identifying native species and managing wildlife encounters responsibly.

The educational outreach aimed to give community members a deeper understanding of the local ecosystem while clarifying the “correct way” to handle common wildlife issues, ensuring both public safety and the protection of local fauna.

With the success of this year’s interaction, local officials and participants are already looking ahead to future community-building events at the Town Park.
