Southport Sets Aug. 13 Hearing on Voluntary Annexation Request

Southport, NC –– The City of Southport Board of Aldermen will hold a public hearing on August 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Southport Community Building to consider a petition for the voluntary annexation of property into the city’s corporate limits pursuant to N.C. General Statute 160A‑31.

The petition seeks annexation of property at 1501 North Howe Street, identified as Parcel 221MA03302 and listed under River Road Funding LLC.

The hearing will allow residents to provide comment before the Board considers adoption of an annexation ordinance.

A copy of the annexation petition and a map of the proposed annexation area are available for public inspection at the Office of the City Clerk at Southport City Hall, 1029 North Howe Street, during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
