Sheriff’s Office Investigating $8,400 Medical Fraud Incident

Whiteville – An investigation is underway regarding an $8,400 case of medical fraud. Corporal Joseph R. Coleman of the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office took a report from victim Lydia Hewett on the morning of August 4 at the law enforcement center. The incident is officially classified as obtaining property by false pretenses and involves medical insurance and treatment.
