Search Warrant Leads to Major Drug Seizure in Bolton; Suspect Held on $600,000 Bond

Christopher Allen Kelly (Columbus County Sheriff's Office)

BOLTON — A narcotics investigation in Bolton escalated this month when Columbus County Sheriff’s Office investigators executed a search warrant at a home on N. Green Swamp Road, resulting in the seizure of suspected illegal drugs and a long list of pending felony charges.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Vice‑Narcotics Unit and the Heavy Enforcement Action Team (H.E.A.T.) carried out the warrant at 3177 N. Green Swamp Road following weeks of surveillance and multiple controlled purchases involving Christopher Kelly, who was already out on bond for a previous methamphetamine trafficking case.

Investigators said they observed Kelly leave the residence to attend a scheduled court appearance and, upon returning home, engage in another suspected drug transaction. That activity prompted deputies to move forward with the search warrant.

During the search, investigators recovered suspected controlled substances. All items have been submitted for laboratory testing.

Kelly now faces a slate of new charges, including:

  • Felony Sell Methamphetamine
  • Felony Deliver Methamphetamine
  • Felony PWIMSD Methamphetamine (2 counts)
  • Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substances (3 counts)
  • Felony Sell and Deliver Fentanyl (2 counts)
  • Felony PWIMSD Fentanyl (2 counts)
  • Felony PWIMSD Heroin
  • Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

He is currently being held under a $600,000 bond.

Sheriff Bill Rogers said the case highlights the department’s commitment to stopping repeat offenders who continue to distribute dangerous drugs in Columbus County.

“When individuals continue to sell dangerous drugs in our community — even while out on bond — we will act swiftly and decisively,” Rogers said. “Our deputies and investigators remain committed to holding offenders accountable and protecting the people of Columbus County.”

The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains active as deputies work to identify additional individuals who may be connected to the distribution network.

Authorities emphasized that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
