Loris, SC — A pre‑dawn rescue on Sunday sent one person to the hospital after a vehicle became fully submerged in water along East Highway 9 Bypass near Flag Patch Road, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.
HCFR was dispatched at 2:42 a.m. Rescue divers entered the water as the vehicle continued sinking, ultimately removing one person from the submerged car. The patient was transported to the hospital with injuries.
The scene was brought under control, and dive team assets will assist towing crews with removing the vehicle from the water.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
