Retha Lee Lewis Chestnut 69, of Lake Waccamaw, NC. passed on August 1, 2026. She was born on September 29, 1956 in Columbus County to the late Elmer Lewis and Peggy Lee Helms Lewis.
She was a Cosmetology Instructor for the North Carolina Community College System and was formerly a Civil Service Employee. She received an associate degree from Southeastern Community College.
She is survived by a son, Mark Alan Lewis of Metairie, L.A.; Brothers, Danny Lewis and wife, Rhonda of Hallsboro, N.C.; sisters, Edna Ann Lewis of T.N., Audrey Lewis of Lumberton, Jean Gore of Lake Waccamaw; nieces and nephews, Danette King, Matthew Lewis, Christopher Jordan, Douglas Jordan.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Her service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday August 8, 2026 graveside at Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park with Rev. Gary Strickland and Rev. Bailey Weeks officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be made to Kingdom Place Church, PO Box 3771, Lumberton, NC.
