No North Carolina stores received the affected products; recall tied to incomplete pasteurization.
FDA reports that Saputo Cheese USA Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of select Great Value cottage cheese products after identifying that certain liquid dairy ingredients may not have been fully pasteurized according to state regulatory standards.
The affected items were distributed to Walmart stores and distribution centers in 24 states between February 17 and February 20, 2026. North Carolina is not included in the distribution list, and no shipments of the recalled products were sent to any Walmart locations or distribution centers in the state. No illnesses or hospitalizations have been reported.

The recall covers multiple Great Value cottage cheese varieties in 16‑ounce, 24‑ounce, and 3‑pound tubs, each with specific UPCs and “Best If Used By” dates ranging from April 1 to April 3, 2026. The issue was discovered during pasteurizer troubleshooting conducted jointly by Saputo and the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The equipment has since been restored to proper function and verified.
Consumers who may have purchased the products while traveling are urged not to consume them and may return them to Walmart for a full refund.
