A faithful husband, loving father, trustworthy friend, Ramon H. Hubbard lived an exemplary life committed to loving God, his family, and the communities where he lived. Ray passed away in Bolivia, NC on June 26, 2026.
He was born in Huron, New York on January 23, 1935, to the late W. Frederick and Marjorie Washburn Hubbard.
His family who will miss him include his wife of more than 71 years, Carolyn Poole Hubbard of Bolivia; daughter Vicki Drumheller of Oak Island; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Carol (Herrington) Hubbard of Bolivia; daughter and son-in-law, Judi and Greg McCracken of Morgantown, WV; grandson, Brian McCracken of Morgantown; and a brother, Edwin R. Hubbard of Sodus, NY. In addition to his parents, three brothers predeceased Ray: Ronald, Robert, and Gordon Hubbard.
Ray served in the U.S. Marines (1954-1960). He proceeded with a lengthy career in the Prudential Insurance Company from which he retired in 1994. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport. Wherever he lived and held church membership, Ray volunteered his time in leadership positions. As a sports enthusiast, Ray divided his loyalties between his children’s alma matres: Marshall and West Virginia Universities.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Trinity United Methodist Church (E. Nash St., Southport, NC) officiated by Rev. Dr. Garrett Albertson. Ray’s ashes will remain in Trinity UMC Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends send donations in memory of Ray Hubbard to either SOIICF Food Pantry, PO Box 711, Oak Island, NC 28465 or Animal Protective Services, PO Box 92, Supply, NC 28462.
