Public Affray Arrests Made After Chadbourn Altercation

CHADBOURN, NC — Two Columbus County men are awaiting trial after a physical fight in public led to charges of simple affray.

On July 10, 2026, deputies with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office intervened in a physical altercation involving two male subjects. Both men were arrested at the scene.

Altercation Leads to Double Arrest and Traffic Violations

The active physical fight resulted in the arrest of Mikel Joseph Tubbs, 25, of Chadbourn, and Carlos Jaquan McClure, 28, of Tabor City.

While Tubbs was charged strictly for his participation in the public fight, a records check on McClure revealed additional traffic violations, including driving with a revoked license and operating an uninsured vehicle.

The defendants face the following charges:

  • Mikel Joseph Tubbs: Charged with Simple Affray. He was booked and later released on a $2,000 secured bond.

  • Carlos Jaquan McClure: Charged with Simple Affray, Driving While License Revoked (Not Impaired), and Operating a Vehicle with No Insurance. He was released on a $250 secured bond.

 

All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
