Planned Water Outage Scheduled for Calabash on Wednesday

CALABASH, NC — Brunswick County Public Utilities will temporarily shut off water service to a portion of MH Marina Road on Wednesday, April 29, to complete scheduled infrastructure maintenance.

The outage will begin at 9:00 a.m. and is expected to conclude by 1:00 p.m., pending any unforeseen delays.

The interruption will impact approximately 16 residential connections along MH Marina Road, with county officials identifying 891 and 899 as the primary addresses within the work zone. Crews will be replacing water meters as part of ongoing system‑wide reliability improvements.

Customers in the affected area are encouraged to store water ahead of the outage for drinking, cleaning, and flushing needs. Several fire hydrants in the immediate vicinity will also be out of service during the work period, and local emergency responders have been notified.

Boil water advisory to follow once service is restored; the area will enter a System Pressure Advisory due to the temporary loss of pressure in the lines. Residents should use bottled water or boil tap water for one minute before consuming it. This applies to drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food.

The advisory will remain in effect until laboratory testing confirms the water is safe, typically within 24 to 48 hours. For questions, residents may contact Brunswick County Public Utilities at 910.253.2657 during regular business hours.
