Fire found under home and exterior wall; all Surfside Beach units responded with mutual‑aid support.
Surfside Beach, SC — Around 1:30 a.m. on June 4, Surfside Beach Fire Department crews were alerted to a overnight structure fire in town. Initial reports indicated that someone might be trapped inside the residence.
Rescue 56 arrived shortly after dispatch and confirmed an active fire with an individual trapped. Firefighters made rapid entry, located the person, and brought them out safely. The individual was transported to a local hospital with injuries described as non‑life‑threatening.
Crews determined the fire originated beneath the home and extended into one exterior wall. All Surfside Beach Fire units, both career and volunteer, responded during the incident.
The department thanked Horry County Fire Rescue, Murrells Inlet–Garden City Fire District, and Surfside Beach Police Department for their assistance and for ensuring continued coverage within town limits.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
