Oak Island Town Council Meets Tonight

Town of Oak Island Council Meeting

The Oak Island Town Council meets tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Council Chambers, 4601 E. Oak Island Drive. Public comment sign‑ups will be available before the meeting, and speakers will have three minutes.

Two public hearings are on the agenda. The first covers proposed UDO amendments encouraging rear‑lot parking for commercial sites, shifting driveways off Oak Island Drive to reduce traffic conflicts, and offering expedited review for projects that follow these standards.

The second hearing focuses on updates to rules for accessory structures in easements, permitting for temporary storage units, and food‑truck operations, including hours, trash receptacles, outdoor seating, and annual permit expiration. No new changes are proposed for sexually oriented business regulations.
