Rally promises high‑energy contests, food trucks, and open community participation
OAK ISLAND, NC — The Town of Oak Island Parks & Recreation Department is rolling out the welcome mat for skaters, families, and spectators as the Second Annual Ripride Rally returns to the Kevin Bell Skatepark on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from noon to 4:00 p.m.
The free event brings together the energy of local skate culture with a festival‑style afternoon of contests, food trucks, giveaways, and community fun. Organizers say all skateboard types are welcome, and helmets are required to compete. This year’s competition lineup includes Best Trick, Race‑Off, and Freestyle, offering something for both seasoned riders and newcomers ready to test their skills. Contestants can register online at OakIslandNC.gov/Programs.
Spectators do not need to register, making it an easy stop for families, visitors, and anyone looking to enjoy the action from the sidelines.
The rally is hosted at the Kevin Bell Skatepark, located at the corner of SE 49th Street and East Dolphin Drive, one of Oak Island’s most popular recreation hubs. With food trucks and giveaways planned throughout the afternoon, the event aims to create a lively, inclusive atmosphere for all ages.
For questions or additional details, residents may contact event coordinator Jacob Hyle at JHYLE@OAKISLANDNC.GOV.
The Ripride Rally is presented by Oak Island Parks & Recreation in partnership with Ripride, continuing the town’s commitment to accessible recreation and youth‑centered community programming.
