Oak Island Police Investigate Assault

Victim may have suffered internal injuries; investigators request public assistance

OKI, NC — Oak Island Police are investigating an assault that occurred Tuesday night in a residential area near E. Oak Drive and NE 78th Street, and investigators are asking anyone with information or video footage to come forward.

Police say the incident happened around 10:00 p.m. on June 9, when the victim encountered a group of juveniles riding electric bicycles. A brief argument followed, during which the victim was knocked to the ground. The victim that was able to leave the scene showed signs of internal injuries.

It was reported that the juveniles left the area heading east along Elizabeth Drive, described as white males wearing helmets and dark clothing. One was carrying an Adidas bag, and another wore a black shirt with the Monster Energy logo.
