Event draws strong turnout and support from local businesses and families
WHITEVILLE, NC — The North Whiteville Volunteer Fire Department marked its Second Annual Community Day with strong turnout, generous local support, and a full afternoon of family‑friendly activities that highlighted the power of community partnership.
Organizers said the event was created to bring neighbors together, strengthen relationships, and showcase the role local businesses and volunteers play in supporting public safety efforts. According to the department, this year’s gathering exceeded expectations.
“We’re grateful for everyone who showed up, helped, supported, and poured into this day,” the department shared. “This is what community looks like.”
Local businesses played a key role in making the event possible. The department extended special thanks to:
– Quality Cleaners
– Truist
– Food Lion
– Darel’s Bakery & Sweets

Their contributions, organizers said, helped create a welcoming environment for families and ensured the event remained free and accessible to the public.
Community Day featured opportunities for residents to meet firefighters, explore equipment, and learn more about volunteer service. The department said it is already looking ahead to next year’s event.
