RALEIGH, N.C. — The N.C. Board of Agriculture will meet Monday, Feb. 9, to consider new facility rental rates, rulemaking petitions and periodic regulatory reviews, according to an announcement from the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
The meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in the training room of the Steve Troxler Agricultural Sciences Center at 4400 Reedy Creek Road in Raleigh.
Board members are expected to review proposed rental rates for the Governor James E. Holshouser Building at the N.C. State Fairgrounds, presented by State Fair Director Kent Yelverton.
The agenda also includes several rulemaking items. Rulemaking Coordinator Anna Hayworth will introduce new rules and present a petition for rulemaking. The board will hear initial determinations for periodic review of three regulatory sections:
- Animal Welfare Section (02 NCAC 52J), presented by Dr. Patricia Norris, director of the Animal Welfare Section.
- Farmed Cervid Rules (02 NCAC 52L), presented by State Veterinarian Dr. Michael Martin.
- Sanitation of Bedding (02 NCAC 61), presented by Patrick Jones, director of the Structural Pest and Pesticides Division.
Board members will also receive industry updates and take up additional business as needed.
The Board of Agriculture serves as the policymaking body for many of the programs administered by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Members are appointed by the governor, and Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler serves as chairman.
