Myrtle Beach, SC — The City of Myrtle Beach has identified four finalists in its search for the next chief of the Myrtle Beach Police Department, following interviews with eight candidates earlier this week.
City Manager Jonathan “Fox” Simons Jr. said the strong applicant pool reflects the department’s reputation and the competitive nature of the position. The four finalists will visit Myrtle Beach during the week of August 10 for additional interviews, meet‑and‑greet sessions with police personnel, city staff and the public, and a tour of the community.
The finalists are:
- Nicholas Augustine, Assistant Chief of Police, Montgomery County, Maryland
- Scott Booth, Chief of Police, Roanoke, Virginia
- Frederick Chambers, Deputy Chief of Police, Fairfax County, Virginia
- Phillip Rathbun, Deputy Chief of Police, Aurora, Colorado
Residents, business owners and community stakeholders are invited to meet the candidates from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 11, at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Feedback will be collected on‑site through QR codes. Additional details and a site map will be released closer to the event.
