CONWAY, SC — A Myrtle Beach man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to a felony drug charge shortly before his trial was set to begin this week, according to Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson.
Rayshawn Epps, 43, pleaded guilty Monday to second‑offense possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine. Assistant Solicitor David Beamer prosecuted the case for the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Circuit Court Judge Paul Burch presided over the hearing and imposed the 12‑year sentence.
Epps was arrested in November 2024 after leading Horry County Police Department officers on a vehicle chase that ended when stop‑sticks were deployed to disable his car. Investigators said Epps ran from the scene and attempted to discard narcotics while fleeing. Once detained, he admitted to possessing the drugs.
Court records show Epps has two prior convictions for possession with intent to distribute heroin, in 2016 and 2019. His latest conviction is classified as a serious offense under South Carolina law and counts as a strike under the state’s three‑strike statute for repeat offenders.
