Mass Casualty Incident Declared After Stampede in Atlantic Beach

Nineteen people evaluated; three transported to hospitals with non‑life‑threatening injuries

Atlantic Beach, SC— Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a reported stampede in the early morning hours of May 24, after crews were dispatched at 1:05 a.m. to the stage area near South Ocean Boulevard in Atlantic Beach.

With assistance from on‑scene law enforcement, responders located and evaluated 19 patients. None of the injuries are believed to be life‑threatening at this time.

Three individuals were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Officials noted that additional patients may have self‑transported prior to emergency crews’ arrival.

A mass casualty incident (MCI) was declared due to the number of reported patients.
