Joseph E. Diehl – South Carolina

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph E. Diehl, who passed away on 7/7/2026 at the age of 55.

Born on 3/12/1971 in Hackensack, New Jersey, Joseph was the beloved son of Ronald, Lorraine, and Carmen. He lived a life marked by kindness, hard work, loyalty, dedication, love and touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Joseph had a big personality and an even bigger heart, and if you were a friend he would give you the shirt off of his back.

Joseph worked as Commercial Truck Driver for many years and was known for his dedication and passion for commercial truck driving. Outside of work, Joseph was a Past Captain of the Pine Beach Volunteer Fire Company, and displayed extraordinary service to his community. Joseph’s career in the fire service began in 1998 with the Beachwood Fire Department where he was a key member in running the fire department’s Poker Run fundraising event. Joseph joined several Ocean County fire departments throughout the years including the New Egypt, Manchester, Ocean Gate and Pine Beach Fire Companies. Joe also served as a Sergeant of Arms at the New Jersey State Firefighters Association Conventions. During Joseph’s time in Pine Beach, he rose through the ranks and was made captain. In 2025, Joe was visiting members of the Beachwood Fire Department and was involved in a successful CPR incident involving a child not breathing. For his actions, Joe was recognized by the Beachwood Fire Department and the 200 Club of Ocean County receiving their Life Saving Award. In addition to being a hero, Joseph was a superdad. Joseph balanced serving his community, working to provide for his family, and being Dad with little to no time for himself. Joseph coached Michael’s baseball team for many years, teaching his love for the game to many players. Joseph was also a motorcycle enthusiast and loved to ride.

He is survived by Carmen Scecchitano(Father), Ronald Diehl (Brother), Michael Scecchitano (Brother), Michael Diehl (Son), Zsuzsanna Nagy (Michael’s Mom) and best companion dog Coco.

A visitation will be held on July 13, 2026 from 1:00PM-3:00PM and 5:00PM-7:00PM at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory located at 11840 SC-90, Little River, SC 29566.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all family and friends of Joseph for their compassion and support during this difficult time.

Though he will be deeply missed, Joseph’s love, strength, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him forever.
